REFLECTION
ON TODAY’S READINGS: The
Healing Hand of Jesus
In
the gospel, the healing by Jesus of the man born blind reminds us
that we are all in need of healing. Jesus’ healing of him is an
invitation to us to recognize our spiritual blindness and seek his
help, so that, set free from our blindness, we can see things as they
are and fully participate in the eternal life, he has won for us.
Spiritual blindness will always constitute an obstacle to authentic
discipleship, so it is not enough to acknowledge our condition; we
must constantly ask him to open our eyes so that we can see. We must
ask him to help us see ourselves as he sees us and then, fully aware
of our condition, we will make the effort to dwell in the light. Once
the blind man was delivered and enabled to discover and accept the
lordship of Jesus, he committed himself to Jesus irrevocably as his
disciple. The event of our deliverance from spiritual blindness will
also result in a more generous response to the demands of
discipleship.
BUTTERFLY MEMORY TREES - will be placed in Star of the Sea Church/St. Joseph/St. Agnes Hall for Easter Sunday, April 2 and will remain until Pentecost Sunday, May 28. If you wish to remember a loved one in this manner please fill out a Memorial Card (available in the entrance of the church) and place it in the Collection Basket. A donation of $5.00 is requested per Butterfly. Donations will be deposited to the parish of your choice. For more information contact the parish office
